Halloween and Trick or Treating Safety Tips

Trick or Treating is every child’s favorite part of Halloween! What’s not to love about cool costumes and free candy?

Halloween falls on October 31st this year and you want your children to be safe while trick or treating.   Whatever the plans are remember to be safe and keep it fun.  Chambersburg celebrates Halloween on October 31st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Trick or Treating Safety Tips for a Happy Halloween

  1. Dress for the weather, it is getting cold outside.
  2. Make sure your child can see.  Masks can shift and your child could be injured from a fall.
  3. Use fire-retardant or non-flammable costumes.
  4. Plan the route ahead of time.
  5. Walk, don’t run.  Halloween decorations can have power cords they kids can trip on.
  6. Stay visible, there will be lots of cars on the roads.
  7. Avoid dark houses and areas.  The general rule is if the lights are out they are not celebrating Halloween.
  8. Stay on sidewalks.
  9. Stay together.
  10. Walk with your child to the door.
  11. Check the candy buckets.
